Marina Oswald shops at Wal-Mart.

In this post: Celebrity shoppers.

As we approach the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination you may be interested to know that Lee Harvey Oswald’s widow, Marina, is a grandmother and retiree who lives in Rockwall, Texas with her second husband. She’s 72 years old and shops at Wal-Mart. I’ll bet she also shops at the Rockwall Costco — the finest Costco in the United States — which means Sam could bump into her sometime buying cheap toilet paper or Brownie Brittle. Holy crap, right?

In case you give a crap about any of this, the map below indicates: A) Howdygram headquarters in Mesquite; B) Marina Oswald’s Wal-Mart on the Interstate 30 service road; and 3) the Rockwall Costco on Route 205. We love the Rockwall Costco.
As long as we’re discussing A-list celebrities, my mother once told me she knew Tokyo Rose, the Japanese propaganda queen whose radio broadcasts taunted American soldiers during World War II. Tokyo Rose settled in suburban Chicago after her release from prison (she did time for treason) and in the 1960s and 1970s shopped at the retail store in Skokie where my mother worked. How mom ever recognized this woman is beyond me, but apparently her real name — Iva Toguri — was widely known by then. Mom sold her dresses and a nice coat because it’s cold in Chicago.
As for me, I’m pretty sure I was once abducted by aliens. Thank you for reading this.
