Syrup, forks, butter, plates and napkins may be purchased separately.

The Dallas Observer has started listing its 100 Favorite Dishes in Dallas, and #99 appeared a couple of days ago ... the bone marrow entree at the Meddlesome Moth restaurant on Oak Lawn Avenue. This makes me want to vomit on a couple of different levels.

First, nobody in their right mind, unless you’re named Spot or Fido, would ever scoop the soft shit out of an ACTUAL ANIMAL BONE and consider it a meal. Second, even more disgusting than the entree are the name and logo of the restaurant itself. Sorry, dudes, but “Meddlesome Moth” isn’t trendy, upscale or clever. It’s SICKENING. Why not call yourself the “Concocted Cockroach” or the “Ticklish Tarantula”? The home page of their website — which features a REAL ANIMATED MOTH — genuinely gives me a panic attack!
If this is the best they can do, God bless Burger King. Seriously.

In other food news, the Ol’ South Pancake House in Fort Worth is celebrating its 50th anniversary by giving away free “short stacks” of buttermilk pancakes on May 15. There’s still plenty of time to fly into town for a free meal because the celebration lasts until midnight tonight.
Ol’ South is located at 1509 S. University in Fort Worth. Syrup, forks, butter, plates and napkins may be purchased separately. (Just kidding.)

Thank you for reading this.
